Madeleine des deux saisons Fig

Ficus carica 'Madeline des Deux Saisons'

We found these large, plump, brown figs with succulent pink flesh, reliably ripening on the cold and rainy coast of Brittany in France, where all other cultivars fail. They have proven to ripen each August in the Pacific Northwest. Also known as Angelica, this fig from the Anjou region is excellent eaten fresh, dried, or made into preserves.

It is called Madeleine of "two seasons" because itĀ ripens not only the "breba" overwintering crop in August but also a fall crop in October which, like most other breba varieties, does not usually ripen in cool summer areas.

It will also do very well in warmer summer areas. Like many figs, in cold and damp climates it is susceptible to botrytis.

This variety is grown from tissue culture and has been heat-treated to significantly reduce the presence of Fig Mosaic Virus.

USDA Zone: 7-10

MatureĀ Height:Ā 10'-15'

Sun: Full Sun

Ripening Time: August-October

Pollination:Ā Self-Fertile
